Left Lane

Being sick today I got to watch the midday news. I saw local troops coming from Qatar and being greeted by family and friends. A great scene. Apparently they won’t have much time to spend with family because their efforts will be needed in hurricane relief.

On an unrelated mission, I had to go to Wal-Mart and I picked the one nearest the airport because it literally is a mecca of commerce. If I have any sudden realizations of supplies to buy, I can get it there. Guaranteed.

When I was there, I saw tons of soldiers, still in uniform, browsing the store looking at every item imaginable. Fishing equipment? A new PSP bought by Mom? These were the same soliders I had just seen on the news! It wouldn’t be my first choice of a visiting spot after being out of the country for 2 years, but that’s just me. Welcome back to America.
