The Click-happy Firefox Bug

I think we can safely define a click-happy person as:

click-happy person (n.): One who clicks for effect or for no reason at all. One who clicks repeatedly on the same spot when they aren’t getting what they clicked for. syn: ADD-clicker. Also read: “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” by the Rolling Stones.

Click-happy bug example on SimpleBits

Check out Dan Cederholm’s site, SimpleBits. When I become click-happy in my favorite web browser, the Fox (version 1.0.7), and I happen to click where the red spot is, the page automatically scrolls to the absolute bottom of the page.

This is especially irritating when I am reading one comment that is in a list of over 100, and I must scroll back up to find my spot again. I’ve found this happens in many of my favorite CSS-based sites, but not in any others.

This bug definitely bugs me. Please tell me this happens to someone else. Let’s hope the Firefox 1.5 upgrade fixes this one.

Update (12/1, 6pm): The Firefox 1.5 update has fixed this problem.
