Life, web, and caffeine. By Pat Collins.
I have a small confession to make: I have been cheating on the Mocha Girl. Unfortunately, it happens every year during the winter time. It has been said: “once a cheater, always a cheater.” Let me tell you of the sexy vixen that has taken my heart and my tastebuds by storm.
The secret tempter? The Starbucks Holiday drinks.
If there were any discrepancies in my dedication between the Mocha Girl’s place and Starbucks, my emotions get the best of me every year by the arrival of the peppermint, egg nog, and gingerbread flavors at Starbucks. This rediscovered affair is made even stronger by the fact that the Mocha Girl is not the only girl who makes mochas in the same shop on any given morning between 8-10. Any attempt to retrieve a Heavenly Mocha is made more difficult when I enter the shop and she is not there. It’s not very polite to walk in, take one look at a subpar coffee maiden, and walk out with a disappointed look. If I walk in, I’m getting some sort of coffee. It’s a 50/50 chance most of the time.
Compound those odds with the addition of peppermint flavoring to a standard Starbucks mocha, and I have myself a dilemma. I could take my chances and try for a Heavenly Mocha or walk another block and get a consistently good peppermint mocha at Starbucks. I think I have to go with the consistency.
Sorry, Mocha Girl. See you in the spring.
