What Time Is It?

It’s Super Bowl Time.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have won three playoff games on the road to become the only #6 seed team to make it to the Super Bowl, ever. This year Big Ben Roethlisberger is soaring as the leader of the Steel City team in place of the fickle Neil O’Donnell of ten years ago. Combine Ben with an extremely cohesive team that is winning against all odds and a desire to deliver a Super Bowl ring to the emotional leader and homebound Jerome Bettis and you have a team that seems destined to win it all.

The Pittsburgh faithful sure hope so.

“It just all seems to fit,” one Steelers fan commented to me during my morning coffee ritual, “the Bus going home to Detroit, the way they won in Indianapolis, it’s all coming together.” Indeed the way they kept it together in the RCA Dome impressed folks so much that fans were predicting a Super Bowl win around water coolers throughout the city, three weeks and one more opponent to go before they would even get a chance to be there. Pittsburgh fans can get a little cocky.

Nonetheless, the sports media have no choice but to give the Steelers the credit they deserve. The team has fought for respect through injury all season, better than even the New England Patriots, who looked, dare I say, human in the latter parts of 2005. With their 15-1 record last year, the Steelers did it even with a tough schedule. This postseason the Steelers look superhuman and the Rooneys look to complete their jewelry collection with the elusive “one for the thumb” in 2006 with a team that is brewing with ability, confidence and companionship so much that some have to ask: Seattle who?

    Hi,

i do agree with you that with the way pittsburgh is playing right now, they seem bound to win the super bowl, but I have to comment on the “seattle who” part. An astonishing upset over carolinamakes me think that this superbowl could and in my prediction will be one the best super bowls ever. I wish victory for the steelers because of my boy Jerome, but then agin seattle also has the mvp my other boy shaun all in all it will be an exciting weekend. Now about the commercials?
