Refresh Pittsburgh Launches

RefreshIt finally happened.

I got off my ass, threw a cappuccino back, and put together a site for Refresh Pittsburgh. Took me long enough.

“Gee,” you may be thinking, “that layout sure looks familar.” I admit, I took the Left Lane theme and changed the colors and layout a bit to match the Refresh Pittsburgh identity. So sue me.

Speaking of identity, there have been talks of a unified logo/badge, which I have mixed feelings on. I like the idea of a Refresh badge we can all put on our sites (like the one above), but I see ideas of a static logo across all Refresh sites and I get nervous. Uniqueness is what makes the Refresh concept work. (Except for, of course, Pittsburgh’s Stockholm icon logo. Oops.)

Moreover, inspired by Bryan (and also by the jealousy I feel that I can’t go to SXSW and bowl with these fine folks), I set up a wiki and copped a template/theme that makes it look like MediaWiki (of WikiPedia fame). I like the look while still having a non-database-powered wiki. It makes the effort seem more grassroots, but maybe that’s just me.

All in all, I hope this initiative takes off. Pittsburgh is not the easiest place to launch something like this. I hope the folks who expressed interest are up to the challenge.
